PROJECT NOMAD
Inspired by the architecture of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and his historic Farnsworth House, Project Nomad is a modern nature and environmental learning center designed to be transported to and temporarily displayed in urban parks and accessible natural open space areas. Project Nomad will contain resources and interactive features on nature, green living, sustainability, including information and materials of the Chicago Center for Green Technology, the Chicago Park District, the City of Chicago’s Department of Environment and other Chicago-based nature-oriented museums and institutions. Currently being designed by Illinois Institute of Technology architecture students, in collaboration with the renowned architectural firm Krueck and Sexton, Project Nomad is a unique means to facilitate community outreach and encourage those in urban and inner-city areas to embrace the ever-growing nature and environmental movement. The construction of Project Nomad is expected to commence in late 2009.
